Boys Varsity Soccer
Beating top teams such as Belmont Hill and St. Sebastian’s (check out Dawg Whisperer), Nobles Boys Varsity Soccer (NBVS) has had an outstanding season so far. Their success stems from exceptional skill, resilient mentality, and wise on-field conduct. “We’ve done a good job of being mature on the field, and that’s part of why we’re winning. At times in games, things can get heated, but Coach Ginsberg reminds us to avoid receiving yellow or red cards. It’s important for us to set the tone,” Captain Juju Fynn-Thompson (Class I) said. Looking ahead, NBVS is preparing for the NEPSAC Class A playoffs.
Varsity Football
The Varsity Football team’s season has been defined by overall grit, highlighted by huge comebacks in games against Middlessex and Berkshire, despite battling several injuries. Furthermore, the team continues to maintain strong bonds with one another through the ups and downs of the season. “It’s a pretty big team, but we’re very close. I say team dinners are the most fun, and it’s just a good way to connect with everybody,” Captain Mac Bianchi (Class I) said. Now, Football is gearing up and getting hyped for the fast-approaching Nobles-Milton Day.
Boys Cross Country
So far, Boys Cross Country (BXC) is enjoying an exemplary season, a major highlight of which includes Alex Cheng (Class I) shattering the Nobles course record. With a near-perfect record, notably beating Belmont Hill by a margin of 1 point, BXC looks ahead to avenging their only loss against Roxbury Latin by claiming the NEPSAC championship. “Our coach calls it ‘philia,’ the bond-like friendship between runners. You see that in races when everyone’s cheering you on from the sidelines. You feel that at every practice when you’re running with that same pack of teammates,” Captain Justin Lee (Class I) said.
Girls Varsity Soccer
While adjusting to the loss of 11 seniors, Girls Varsity Soccer continued to achieve success, notably by defeating St. Mark’s for the first time in years, as well as shutting out Governor’s and Mount Saint Charles Academy during Friday Night Lights. The ladder is the pride of FNL, as GVS took home a dominant 8-0 win. “Our wins have been really good. We’re moving the ball, we’re playing together, and that’s when we’re at our best. Our team has so much potential,” Captain Brooke St. John (Class I) said.
Varsity Volleyball
Exemplifying quick improvement, Varsity Volleyball has beaten both St. Mark’s and Tabor for the first time in three years. “I think we have a lot of new potential. Many of the younger players are really talented. We’re improving at a quicker rate than I expected,” Captain Kailynn Zheng (Class I) said. Currently, Volleyball is aiming to qualify for the ISL playoffs and the NEPSAC tournament, with the hope of advancing into the playoffs.
Girls Cross Country
With only one loss to Middlesex, Girls Cross Country (GXC) has had a near-perfect season, highlighted by a key win against Milton, an almost unbeatable team in the past. However, the team is defined by its support of one another, despite skill level. “It feels especially good when both [JV and Varsity GXC] win and can congratulate each other,” Captain Christina Hall (Class I) said. Fueled by positivity and the desire to not only be resilient but also help others push themselves, GXC looks ahead to ISL championships.
Varsity Field Hockey
So far dominating in the ISL, the Girls Field Hockey team has had an outstanding season, exemplified by their revenge victory against Middlesex following a controversial loss last year. As the team looks ahead to Nobles-Milton Weekend, their skill and teamwork demonstrate their preparedness for victory. “We’ve got resilience and collaboration. It’s not really a team based on individual skill. We work together better than other teams do, and that comes from the positivity that we have on the field,” Captain Maddie Jaeger (Class I) said.
