On May 13th, Jason Douglas and Seynabou Seck were elected SLC Co-Presidents for the 2026-2027 school year. The Nobleman interviewed the two winning candidates and asked them 10 questions to help students get to know them better and understand their goals for the upcoming school year.
- What is your favorite Nobles event, and is there something you would like to improve about it?
Douglas: I really love FNL in the fall season, but I would love to get some more participation in all the games, not just that one night.
Seck: FNL is a really classic tradition. It’s been something that I’ve always looked forward to since sixie year. If there were an event I’d change, it would be the advertising for the Calliope Coffeehouse to get more people to go. It’s another event I really like that not as many people go to.
- What is your favorite Nobles lunch?
Douglas: I like anything with the word “Bar” after it. (i.e. Noodle Bar)
Seck: Tacos.
- What was/is your favorite Nobles class and who taught it?
Douglas: I’ve really liked U.S. History this year with Mr. Sternberg and now Mr. Kalin. They’re both great teachers, and I just like the class in general.
Seck: Sixie year Geography with Ms. Lyons. That class felt like a family.
- What is a fun fact about you?
Douglas: The last six months of the year spell out my name (JASON D)
Seck: I can speak three languages.
- Why did you want to be an SLC rep?
Douglas: I wanted to be an SLC rep because I think that there’s so much more to our class than meets the eye. I want to be the person that other people can rely on and trust, so we can continue to show everyone how great our class is. I would like to represent everyone and their ideas, not just a few select groups.
Seck: Since I’ve been doing it for a while, SLC has started to become second nature to me. It’s been something that characterized my Nobles experience and made it so enjoyable, knowing that I get to hear directly from the kids in my grade that I care about so much, and the people who teach me something new every day. I think our class is really special, and I’m so lucky to be able to represent something that feels bigger than myself.
- What are three words your friends would use to describe you?
Douglas: “Charismatic” – Jameson O’Neill (Class II), “Lovely” – Nate Pichardo (Class II), “Amicable” – James Fair (Class II)
Seck: “Outgoing” – Reid Hauck (Class II), “Compassionate” – Izzy Kittredge (Class II), “Giving” – Maame Tabiri (Class II)
- What is a piece of advice you would give to an aspiring SLC rep?
Douglas: Just take the shot. You might as well. It’s stressful waiting for it, but at the same time, why not?
Seck: Do it and do it with 100% of yourself. You have nothing to lose, and putting yourself out there is one of the greatest things you can do to increase your confidence. It’s also a great way to get to know other people. Put your all into what you’re writing, and have it come from the heart, because at the end of the day, your speech is how people will be able to see who you are and what you’re trying to accomplish.
- What are you most excited about for next year?
Douglas: I’m really excited for our grade and, hopefully, for our school being more connected and, overall, just having fun next year. Especially now that the beach will be open year-round.
Seck: The fact that I get to spend it with 130 really amazing people. Obviously, I’m biased because I’ve spent the past five years with the same kids, but there’s no class I love more than ours, and I cannot wait to see what we get to do as seniors. I cannot wait to see the laughs, the smiles, everything about next year. It feels very promising.
- Who is your role model?
Douglas: My dad, because he didn’t grow up with a lot, and he was able to do so much for my family and me. And, he’s always had a great attitude about everything.
Seck: My role model is my mom. She’s always there for me, she’s taught me everything I know, and I can always talk to her about anything.
- What would be your dream job if money didn’t matter?
Douglas: A food taster.
Seck: An astronaut.
