Baseball:
With an opportunity to play at Fenway Park, Nobles Varsity Baseball has had an exciting start to the spring season. The team is characterized in three words: excitement, talent, and energy. Captain Luke Leger (Class II) said, “I look forward to leading by example and getting the boys fired up and hungry for a win.” The team is mainly focused on securing an ISL title through efficiency in game and by buying into every aspect of the sport. Leger said, “[Our] perfect spring game is beating any rival on a sunny day.” With their hype-up song, “Burn it to the Ground,” by Nickelback, Varsity Baseball has great spirits and even better vibes before gamedays.
Track & Field:
Despite being established only a few years ago, Nobles Track and Field has grown immensely, expanding into a middle school afternoon program this year. By aiming to build a stronger team culture to win meets and a supportive, competitive nature, the track team has consistently proven itself to be built on a strong aura. Captain Anran Liu (Class I) said, “Motivated, fun, fast.” The three words to describe the team set a precedent for generations to follow. With their hype-up song for meets, “Everytime We Touch,” by Cascada, nothing can burn out the fire for Track and Field.
Girls Crew:
8 boats and infinite amounts of determination and cohesion define Nobles Girls Crew (NGC). By kicking off the season with their team motto, “All In,” and early days on the water, NGC has already set itself up for a promising season. Captain Brenna Thomas (Class I) said, “I[The motto is] really meant to bring the team together and give everyone a shared goal.” Fueled by three consecutive New England Championship titles, NGC’s enthusiasm, competitiveness, and support push the girls every day. With their hype-up song, “Howlin’ at the Moon,” by D Fine Us and Vigz, no boat can get in the way of NGC.
Softball:
With the goals of winning more league games and the ISL, Nobles Varsity Softball has great determination, even better team spirit, and the support to make their goals realistic. Captain Siena Sage (Class I) said, “We [Sage and co-Captain Addy Keaveney (Class I)] want to leave behind a team of girls that is determined to succeed, but also love the sport and the team as much as we have. It’s about so much more than just the game.” With daily jams to country music, especially on the sunniest days, and Sage’s personal favorite song, “The Sweet Escape,” by Gwen Stefani, vibes are always guaranteed with Varsity Softball.
Boys Lacrosse:
With continued aspirations to secure the ISL, Nobles Boys Varsity Lacrosse (NBVL) counts on leaning on one another and ensuring that everyone has a positive experience on the team through both ups and downs. Captain Mack Smink (Class I) said, “It’s great to know that I have 30 guys who have my back no matter what happens on the field.” Perfect spring practices in 70-degree weather and a short walk to the turf make the season worthwhile. With their hype song “What’d I Miss” by Drake, BVL fosters a strong team culture and an even better time spent together.
Girls Varsity Tennis:
Built on optimism and a strong team culture, Nobles Girls Varsity Tennis (NGVT) fosters commitment to practices and matches every day. Regardless of wins or losses, the team’s supportive nature consistently contributes to their success and commitment. Captain Sienna Zhao (Class II) said, “This season would be a success even beyond wins and losses if we build a strong, positive culture where players support each other and stay committed.” With their hype song, “Unwritten,” by Natasha Bedingfield, NGVT can always ace having a good time.
Boys Crew:
With a prestigious history behind them, Nobles Boys Crew (NBC) prides itself on team connection and unity in and out of its boats. The team is looking ahead to the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA), going for gold at USRowing Youth Nationals, and competing against longtime rival Belmont Hill. Captain Vedant Kulkarni (Class I) said, “We make sure everyone stays humble and at the same time that grounds people enough … The best team culture is going to be achieved when you have a lot of hungry people who really want to win, but also don’t take themselves too seriously.” Boys’ Crew competes not just for themselves, but especially for their teammates. Kulkarni said, “I don’t think I’ve been in another group or community where camaraderie is held to such a standard, and I really hope people realize that.” With their hype song, “Boys Buzz,” reserved for their Belmont Hill race and NEIRA finals, the boats on NBC persistently buzz by their competition.
Girls Varsity Lacrosse:
Gritty, joyful, and as fun as it gets with Nobles Girls Varsity Lacrosse (NGVL). With the continuous goal of winning the ISL title for a fifth consecutive year and maintaining an undefeated ISL record, NGVL looks to continue a successful season, not only winning games and titles but also watching each other grow as teammates. Captain Whitney Palumbo (Class I) said, “This season would be a success if all of the girls on our team grew as players and people, bonded with their teammates, confidence on and off the field grew, felt like us and the coaches had their back, and overall had an amazing spring season and loved the team and bond we shared.” With songs like “Take a Hint” from Victorious, “The Spins” by Mac Miller, and “Better Than Revenge” by Taylor Swift keeping them hyped for game days, no team is giving NGVL the short end of the stick.
Varsity Golf:
Despite its individualistic nature, the Varsity Golf team has well-established itself as one that fosters togetherness and mentorship among younger players. Captain Blake Dinwoodey (Class I) said, “I remember how influential my upperclassmen leaders were when I was a freshman on the team, and I want to pass this support along.” With the goals of getting into the top three in the ISL and contending for the championship, the golf team has shown strong wins that reflect their motivated, balanced, and fun behavior. Despite golf not being a sport that requires many hype songs, “Traveler” by Chris Stapleton always gets the team teed up for a match.
Boys Varsity Tennis
Captain Rohan Rao (Class II) said, “Making sure everyone is on the same page, and no one guy is feeling like he let others down [is important]. Win as a team, and lose as a team is big for us.” With the goals of winning the ISL championship for the first time in program history, continuing an undefeated ISL season, and hopefully getting a high seed in NEPSACs, Nobles Boys Varsity Tennis prides itself on setting a strong team precedent that will carry over to future teams.
